CENTRAL AMERICA

This region covers the area between North America and South America. Mexico (some state it is part of North America) Guatamala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. It separates the Pacific Ocean in the West and the Caribbean Sea in the East. Narrowest point is in Panama (50km wide) Humid swamps and lowlands extend along both the west and east coasts, but four-fifths of Central America is either hilly or mountainous. The combined population of Central America is estimated at 46 million people (not included Mexico) Mexico has an estimated population of 128 million.

THE CARRIBEAN

White sandy beaches, crystal-clear water, and laid-back island culture make the Caribbean one of the world’s top vacation spots. The Caribbean is a region of the Americas that is Located in the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean. The region is southeast of the Gulf of Mexico and the North American mainland, east of Central America, and north of South America. The Caribbean consist of more than 700 tropical islands, inlets, reefs and cays. The region’s coral reefs, which contain about 70 species of hard corals and between 500–700 species of reef-associated fishes. The area is mostly tropical and has regular hurricanes leading to natural disasters. The region sits in the line of several major shipping routes with the Panama Canal connecting the western Caribbean Sea with the Pacific Ocean.
